Allocate SafeCare helps organisations embrace a real-time staff deployment. It provides live visibility of staffing levels and by matching with patient demand, can highlight areas which are short on workload-based care hours. It has been designed to enable reviews of daily staffing issues at both unit level and across the entire organisation, providing an instant view of whether the actual staffing levels are deemed safe to meet the clinical demand.

To enable Allocate SafeCare to calculate the required care hours, information from a patient census is required. The Safer Nursing Care Tool (SNCT)* has been developed to help hospital staff measure patient acuity and / or dependency to inform evidence-based decision making on staffing requirements and workforce. In short, Allocate SafeCare with SNCT combines the Allocate SafeCare product with the SNCT datasets of patient care levels and required care hours.

As with all safer staffing decision support tools it is essential to apply professional judgement to all outputs. You can compare staff numbers and skill mix alongside actual patient demand in real-time, allowing you to make informed decisions and create acuity-driven staffing.

Allocate SafeCare has been awarded an endorsement statement by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in relation to its guidelines for Safe Staffing (SG1).
