Following the news in July 2022 of NHS England’s agency staffing ceiling – cutting agency spend by at least 10% in each integrated care system, we have been supporting Trusts in their drive to reduce agency spend.
With now 35 NHS customers and a further 12 onboarding, Allocate StaffDirect is set to achieve £190 million in agency staffing savings since launching with its first customer in 2014.
What is Allocate StaffDirect?
Allocate StaffDirect is a direct engagement solution that charges a transactional fee rather than the typical percentage of the booking charge rate model.
Due to this, most organisations often find an additional savings benefit when switching from their incumbent direct engagement supplier to Allocate StaffDirect.
”The savings achieved by the trust have been tremendous. Since implementing the system in 2014, we have received a £15.8million saving for an investment of £780k. The reporting is clear and can be accessed at any time. 98%+ of our agency workers are processed via the system, which ensures we’re compliant with our rates of pay, keeping sight of the correct payments towards capped rates.

See how much you could save
Our complimentary Agency Saving Assessment can estimate the additional savings your organisation could receive by using Allocate StaffDirect.
The assessment will show you the estimated Gross and Net Savings and can be produced in as little as 48 hours.
”We’ve been pleasantly surprised by the results that have been presented to us in the agency savings assessment. The assessment itself was pain free and very quick to complete and we’re now using the information to share with the wider organisation.

What’s needed for an Agency Saving Assessment?
To benefit from our Agency Saving Assessment we ask for two key pieces of data;
- Your organisation’s annual total spend (Inc VAT) for each applicable DE Staffing Group (Medics, AHP, NMNC)
- Total hours associated
Limited data? No problem! We can use national averages.
We understand that people’s time is limited right now, and your priority is to support the workforce and ultimately, the patients. That’s why we’re making the assessment as straightforward as possible.
If your organisation currently has no direct engagement model and therefore the hours detail is harder to obtain, we can use national average charge rates to deliver an estimate on ‘Total Hours’.
If you’re able to provide Trust data, we’ll be able to provide a more accurate report and our promise is that this data will be kept completely confidential; only being used to deliver the assessment.
